Hard Times touched Umar Akhter at the age of 16 where his father Saifulla Akhter, a Bangalore-based distributor does saree distribution from manufacturer to retailers. He was brought up in a small home where his father does the business. After school, he follows his father to the market on his scooter clenching a huge box of sarees…

Umar Akhter shares his Childhood memories

He was raised in a middle-class family of 6 children. It was a bad day once, where Hyderabad retailers shut their shops and Saifulla was stuck with a debt of around 8 lakhs. The stock was sold to retailers in credit and the people whom he borrowed started teasing harshly. 

However, he somehow managed crucial funds and brought a store in Kolar to initiate their retail business. 

BUT… Saifulla tried to stop Umar’s education and asked him to supervise the Kolar shop. Umar who was keen on studies convinced his father to continue his education and meanwhile, he can oversee business too. 

The Entrepreneurial Journey!!

1991 is a substantial year that turned his lifestyle goal. He commenced his journey of business operations, collecting saree stocks across the country. They started to rent their store while retaining the old name ” Mina Bazaar”. 

💯 Wow!! Now, they began earning Rs 1000/- daily, somehow cleared the debts in the next few years and Umar entered his college life. He decided to pursue an MBA which was in Bengaluru to expand their business horizon. But the idea was shattered, as he couldn’t leave his shop. He started setting for a Master’s in Commerce and fetched the top position in the Kolar institute. best consulting agencies

The Next Stepping Stone…

Once he realized the significance of software to organize any job today, decided to pursue a diploma in Oracle and Java. He was recruited via an on-campus placement to a small company in Mysuru in a very small package. Soon he was elected to another company ThoughtWorks and resumed for 10 years. 

Whatever he performs, there lies an Entrepreneur inside him…

Meanwhile, he and his brother decided to buy a shop in Bengaluru and expand Mina Bazar accordingly. Amazingly, the business was a boost carving a huge brand in the ethnic market. The story of expansion begins where he brought another store next to Mina Bazar in Kamaraj Road.

From all the negotiations of his family, he opened up a store at Kamaraj Road. In 2013, Umar attained another store in Chickpet, a unique shop for occasion wear, and 2014, another store at Commercial street. 

👉Yes… It’s time to become a full-time entrepreneur… 

He has immediately quit his job at ThoughtWorks as the MD …

Growth of Koskii

In 2016, Umar opened up a store at Jayanagar and rebranded their existing stores all-around to Koskii. Koskii tower on Kamaraj Road highlights eureka moments for the entire family. In 2019, Koskii ranked 35 cr revenue growth and they planned to gain 50 cr revenue in the financial year. Koskii has now reaped an outfit brand across India comprising Jaipur, Kolkata, Surat, Mumbai, and more… best consulting agencies
